Loon Lake Lodge resort, on the Gunflint Trail, offers a unique winter Minnesota lake log cabin for rent.  We offer it as a "base" for your Gunflint Trail, Grand Marais, MN snowmobiling vacation, cross country skiing or as a winter northern Minnesota honeymoon getaway.

Our "Shack" cabin will be open until mid March. If you want to get away from it all for a weekend or longer this is a great opportunity. Bring your cross country skies, snowshoes or snowmobiles.  There are trails of all types in the area. If you enjoy Minnesota ice fishing, Loon Lake is great for lake trout. Other activities in the area include sled dog trips and horse drawn sleigh rides.  Snowmobile rentals are available nearby or in Grand Marais.

After enjoying a day of skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing for trout or just exploring the wonderful winter landscape in the Boundary Waters (BWCAW) you can sit in front of the fireplace and relax. Few Minnesota winter resorts offer the solitude that you will find at Loon Lake Lodge.

ABOUT "shack" log CABIN

The "Shack"  tops the list of secluded Minnesota winter cabins and is a classic northwoods log cabin built by craftsmen in the early 1940's. We call it the "Shack" but it is anything but a shack.

Your winter log cabin has two bedrooms that can be configured with two twin beds in each or a king bed in each or a combination. In the living room you have a massive rock fireplace, a log futon and a leather recliner to enjoy a relaxing evening. If you want, you even have satellite TV to catch up on what is happening in the outside world.

2008 - 2009 Winter cabin Rates

Weekend & Holidays $179/night for two, $20 for each additional person.

Special Weekday rates: Sunday to Thursday $109/night for two, $20 for each additional person.

Winter cabin rental Policies

A $300 deposit is due at the time of your reservation and full payment is due one week before your arrival. We have a 2-night minimum on reservations. Pets are an additional $15/night. Deposits are refundable if cancellation is made at least 45 days prior to your arrival. Cancellations made within 45 days are non-refundable.

Pets

Well behaved pets are allowed. We ask that pets not be left alone in your cabin or be allowed on the bed or other furniture. Barking dogs will be asked to leave.  Rates:  $15 per day per pet or $90 per week per pet.
