WELCOME TO LOON LAKE LODGE
family resort on the gunflint trail in northern
Minnesota
When you stay in one of the lakeside
log cabins at Loon Lake Lodge lakefront family resort, on the Gunflint Trail in northern Minnesota, you will return to the past and enjoy one of the few remaining original log-constructed resorts on the Gunflint Trail.
While staying at our lakefront family
resort you are surrounded by the unspoiled wilderness of the Minnesota north woods. The Gunflint Trail area, where we are located, has changed little over the years. It is much the same as it was over a hundred years ago and is still home to over 50
varieties of animals and 200 species of birds. The calls of loons, the hoot of owls, the eerie howl of a wolf on a moonlit night and the breeze whispering through the trees will take you back to a much simpler and less hurried time.
Being adjacent to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness you can't find a better solution to being able to enjoy the BWCA(W) with all of it's beauty and solitude and at the same time have the convenience and amenities that a full service north woods resort offers at the end of the day. Spend the day canoeing or hiking in the Boundary Waters and return to your
log cabin to take a shower, enjoy a meal in our Lodge and have a cold beer or glass of wine for the evening instead of sleeping on the ground in a tent.
A free high speed WiFi internet connection is available in
our main lodge for those of you who must have access to the internet for
work or other reasons. You'll find that Loon Lake Lodge resort
on the Gunflint Trail is the perfect Minnesota getaway from the commotion of life's hurried style.
Our northwood's
lakefront family resort is on the south shore of Loon Lake, a 1,025 acre lake with a maximum depth of 202 feet. Being approximately 4 miles long, Loon Lake can provide all of the lake trout, small mouth bass, rock bass and northern pike that you will need for for your nightly northwood's fish fry.
Relaxing, fishing, canoeing, hiking or birding, Loon Lake Lodge resort
can accommodate whatever sort of vacation and outdoors activities
you desire. The activities at Loon Lake Lodge resort and in the
surrounding Gunflint Trail area of Minnesota are many and varied.
Loon Lake Lodge resort is open from approximately May 1st to mid October. Exact dates vary slightly from year to year depending on weather conditions and the temperature.
Loon Lake Lodge
resort is owned and operated by Tom and Terry Caldwell.
