Loon Lake Lodge resort on the Gunflint Trail in northern Minnesota's northwoods, near the city of Grand Marias is easy to find and to get to.
Make your way from your home to Duluth, MN. From Duluth MN follow MN Route 61 northeast for approximately 110 miles until you get to the City of Grand Marais. (The drive between Duluth and Grand Marias along Minnesota's "north shore" of Lake Superior is a spectacular drive with many beautiful vista's and waterfalls to stop at.)
When you start coming into Grand Marais, you will go down a hill into town. Near the bottom of the hill, turn left onto 5th Av W (County Rd 15). Follow 5th Av W (County Rd 15) to the stop sign at the Gunflint Trail (County Rd 12). Turn left onto the Gunflint Trail (County Rd 12). - - You can also get on the Gunflint Trail (County Rd 12) at the east end of Grand Marias by turning off of Hwy 61 onto 6th Av E (shown as "Alternate route").
Follow the Gunflint Trail out of Grand Marais for 39 miles to Loon Lake Road (County Road 51) where you will see a Loon Lake Lodge sign. Turn right on to Loon Lake Road and follow it to Loon Lake Lodge resort.
